Proposal for the
new public space entry to the SUNY Rockland Community College campus developed
as a fusion of art and landscape. The concept celebrates the rebirth and
transformation of the site, once a working farm, into a community oriented
culturally diversified college. The land is 'opened' like a book, incorporating
light, interactive materials, images and quotes, in an expression of education
as a process of expanding minds. The terraced earth, an extension of the
rolling hills of the surrounding context is symbolic of farm fields, and
forms an amphitheater to be utilized by the campus community. Materials : earth, fieldstone, plants, stainless steel, light, glass Dimensions : 18 ft. H x 176 ft. W x 192 ft. D |
